The Center at West Park
Gotham Dance Theater presents "Far Away" features five dancers and their family histories of immigration to the United States of America. The story begins with young Amelia, who left the Philippines at age 22 to pursue her nursing career and build her family life. At such a young age, what did Amelia and others like her have to endure? What were their struggles and fears? What gave them courage, nerve, and strength? What was it like without close family support while living in a far away land? What does it mean to be a Dreamer in today’s USA?
"Far Away" is Gotham Dance Theater's first evening length production since 2017's "This feels like home." "Far Away" will be performed live at The Sanctuary at The Center at West Park and will livestream as part of our artist residency at The Center at West Park.
